Thomas Telford, 1817 with alterations and additional quay,
William Robertson, 1834. Original harbour consisted of N
(seaward) pier and present inner pier; enlarged 1834 by
additional pier projecting N from beach enclosing angle of
bay. Rubble, some concrete surfacing. Small painted metal
circular harbour light.
'In 1817 a small but substantial harbour was erected by the
Earl of Seafield and in 1834 it was greatly enlarged and
improved by the erection of an additional quay, which has
rendered it one of the best harbours in the Moray Frith
(sic)', NSA 1842.
