James Matthews, 1866-7 after former building on site by
William Robertson, 1823. 2-storey L-plan bank and dwelling
with 4-bay front to The Square and single bay to Grant
Street. Harled with considerable use of ashlar dressings and
margins. Bracketted pedimented entrance to The Square with
further doorway in re-entrant angle; all ground floor windows
with bracketted cornices and panelled aprons 1st floor
fenestration linked by cill course and corniced eaves bands;
blocking courses. 2- and 4-pane glazing. Corniced ridge and
end stack slate roofs, bowed and piended at angle.
