Description

John Wittet, Elgin, 1919-20. Squat octagonal domed monument
on stepped base. Polished ashlar. Recessed inscribed polished
granite panels in each of 7 faces delineated by short angle
pilasters linked at base and at entablature by continuous
string course, above which the monument is encircled by
mutuled cornice. Wallhead defined by moulded slate cornice
linking pediments in alternate facets. Dome crowned by simple
finial. Rear door gives access to small internal cell.

Statement of Interest

Foundation stone laid by Nina, Countess of Seafield, 6 Aug 1920.
