Dated 1888. Contractors Messrs Hugh Symington & Son. Single storey station building on S side of line. Red brick with white brick and stone dressings, timber construction to platform. 9 irregular bays. Cast-iron columns with acanthus leaf capitals and quatre-foil spandrels with glazed awning to platform. Main roof pitched and slated, corniced wallhead and gable stacks.
Built for the North British Railway Company. On Airdrie- Helensburgh line; the railway formed part of what was originally the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway. Upgraded Category C(S) to B, 12 February 1997.
