Circa 1885. 3-storey pair of tenements on ground rising to S. Stugged, squared and coursed sandstone with harl to sides and rear, ashlar dressings. 1st floor cill course and eaves course. Tabbed windows, chamfered arrises, roll-moulded door surrounds, hoodmoulds over blank panels to doorways.
W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: door to right, panelled with plate glass fanlight in doorway with angles chamfered at head. 2 windows to outer right and 1 window to left; lower block to N with door at centre, panelled with 2-pane fanlight, blank bay above; 2 windows to right and
2 windows to left. Regular fenestration to 1st and 2nd floors.
E ELEVATION: large stairtower with sloping roof to left of centre and regular fenestration.
N ELEVATION: centre door with windows above at 1st and 2nd floor.
Mainly 4-pane glazing pattern with some plate-glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Battered base course and cope to wallhead stack to W, and coped ashlar gablehead stacks with cans; Cast-iron downpipes with decorative rainwater hoppers and fixtures.
Listed as part of the impressive tenement at the corner of Somerville Street and Kirkgate and for good, unaltered plain, dignified design.
