Pre-1685, possibly on earlier foundations and incorporating roof timbers of circa 1470. 2-storey 3 (formerly 4) window front L plan with gabled 2-storey and basement rear wing on steeply falling ground. Rubble with stugged dressings and later ashlar shops with chamfered openings and 1st floor level band course. Crowstepped gables. Corrugated-iron roof, brick stack S gable. Some unglazed 12-pane sash and case surviving to rear.
INTERIOR: early flush panelled doors, flagstones. Largely ruinous.
B group with items 10-50, 52-55, 61-75, 81-95, 97, 101, 109-123, 146-153, 167-177 all inc. It is thought that the early roof timbers were re-used from an earlier property, conceivably even one on the site. They have been dated by dendrochronology. Proximity to the Chanonry of Brechin suggests the possibility of earlier foundations. Upgraded B to A October 2000.
