Description

J.R.H. MacDonald of John MacDonald (contractors) Ltd. (Burnside and Kilmardinny) 1936. International style. 2-storey, smooth rendered over brick bases, fenestration contained within recessed bands, flat roofed. South east elevation 2-window with large single-storey rectangular

porch, the roof of which is extended at half width round curved eastern angle with 6-light windows to door in north east elevation which has later porch at north east. Irregular fenestration to north west, some openings altered; glazing replaced throughout; lower 2-storey addition and garage block to north. Roughcast and brick garden wall.

C(S) as altered has been comparable with no. 9;

B group;

Interesting speculative development in the International style. J.R.H. MacDonald was the son of Sir John MacDonald principal of the firm.
