Archibald Simpson, l833-4. Tudor gothic. Polished sandstone ashlar entrance gable frontage, harled rear with ashlar margins and dressings.
Hoodmoulded pointed-arch recessed doorway below cusped, traceried and hoodmoulded window; flanking narrow round full-height tourelles rising above gabled wallhead in crocketed pinnacles. 4-bay long return gables lit by long margined pointed-arch windows.
1913 extension at rear of church with re-set hoodmoulded, cusped and traceried window and raised basement accommodated on sloping site; lean-to entrance porch projects at SE dated 1913. Slate roofs.
FRONT RAILINGS: renewed spearhead cast-iron railings with urn stiffeners front church and are continuous with rectory.
INTERIOR: galleried interior; original pointed-arch panelling to gallery front; gallery area converted for meeting use with seats removed. Original gothic panelled double-leaf doors between lobby and nave. Later l9th century church fittings including Gothic style marble reredos and altar re-sited in 1913 chancel, hexagonal stone font mounted on stumpy cluster columns and poppy-head pews.
Building in ecclesiastical use as such. Front railings renewed circa 1990 in style of earlier railings removed l939-45.
