Description

Circa 1830-40, probably on earlier site. 2-storey, wide 3-bay house. Harled, painted margins and dressings. Centre entrance with shallow corniced doorpiece with plain anthemion detailing and panelled door. Regular fenestration, the smaller 1st floor windows linked by continuous sill/bandcourse and eaves course. 12-pane timber sash and case glazing. Additional doorway to left (N) of main entrance serving former shop.

Single storey, 4-bay whitewashed rubble cottage projects at right

angles to rear, now serving as store; corrugated iron roof.

INTERIOR: staircase with plain wooden balusters and polished wooden handrail; lst floor drawing-room with deep corniced skirting boards, black painted earlier l9th century (?slate) chimneypiece and later l9th century cast-iron hearth. Small re-used chimneypiece decorated with Prince of Wales feathers in ground floor room (installed l990).
