Early 19th century. 2-storey with basement and attic, 3-bay classical house forming part of terrace. Painted ashlar. Cornice; blocking course. Painted margins to openings.
N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: stepped platt oversailing basement to central bay; timber door; letterbox fanlight. Lower height glazed timber door to outer right; letterbox fanlight; adjoining window above; small 2-pane window to left; shopfront fascia above and to right. Stepped platt oversailing basement to outer left; glazed timber door to pedimented entrance; double-height letterbox fanlight. Regular fenestration at 1st floor. Boarded timber doors to re-entrant angles at basement between central and bay to left. 2 piended dormers at attic to outer left and right.
W (SIDE) ELEVATION: double-height modern shopfront to left; recessed glazed timber entrance door to left; single window at 1st floor to right.
Predominantly 4-pane timber sash and case windows; single panes at attic. Grey slate roof; coped stacks; circular cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
B Group with Nos 1-12 (Inclusive), 16-27 (Inclusive), Sheriff Court (No 14), County Buildings, Monuments to James George Smith Neill, Earl of Eglinton and Wintoun, Sir James Fergusson of Kilkerran, War Memorial, and Gatepiers, Gates and Boundary Walls. The palace-fronted square as proposed by John Robertson in 1799 was not pursued, instead individual feuars were allowed to develop the square.
