Later 19th century, with later alterations. 2-storey, 5-bay mansion house with single storey and attic ancillary structures and walled garden. Squared, coursed sandstone. Base course; central dividing band course; eaves course; broad eaves. Aprons to 1st floor windows.
S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: steps to entrance in penultimate bay to right; recessed channelled and architraved doorpiece; timber door; small-paned fanlight; single window aligned above at 1st floor. 2 small-paned arched windows at ground floor to left; 2 single windows aligned above at 1st floor. Tripartite windows at ground and 1st floor to outer right; bracketed cornice over ground floor window; bargeboarded low-pitched gablet over 1st floor window. Single windows to all faces at ground and 1st floor of bowed bay to outer left.
E ELEVATION: irregular fenestration; variety of later additions to outer right.
N ELEVATION: irregular fenestration; flat-roofed modern addition to left.
W ELEVATION: irregular fenestration and doorway to bays to right; large canted bay advanced to bay to left; window to 1st floor behind. Modern addition to outer left.
Predominantly 2-pane timber sash and case windows. Piended grey slate roof with lead ridges. Wallhead stacks and stacks breaking pitch with decorative Egyptian circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIOR: not seen 1999.
ANCILLARY STRUCTURES, WALLED GARDEN AND GREENHOUSES: single storey and attic ancillary structures to NE of main house. MEASURE SIZE DOWNSTAIRS!!!!!!!!!walled garden to rear of property; lean-to greenhouses to N (Victoria Park).
GATEPIERS, GATES AND BOUNDARY WALL: paired gatepiers to entrance to right; detailed timber gate; iron gate to walled garden; coped boundary wall enclosing site.
Good example of later 19th century architecture, with various distinctive detailing including its bowed S elevation bay, large arched windows, corbelled cornice and timber bargeboarding. Also of note is the retention of the greenhouses within the large walled garden to the rear of the property.
