J I McDerment, later 19th century. 2-storey, 4-bay villa with later 2-bay addition to outer right, on corner site. Ashlar. Base course; cill courses; eaves course; cornice. Architraved square-headed window openings.
S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: balustraded entrance porch with balcony above, to penultimate bay to left; 2-leaf timber door; letterbox fanlight; single window aligned above at 1st floor; canted bay at ground to outer left; tripartite window aligned above at 1st floor; single windows at ground and 1st floor to 2 bays to right. Single windows at ground and 1st floor to modern 2-bay extension to outer right.
Predominantly plate glass and 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; wallhead and ridge stacks; circular cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALL: square-plan iron gatepiers flank central pedestrian entrance; coped boundary wall enclosing site.
Miller Place (as it was originally named, after Provost Hugh Miller) was laid out as a turnpike road in 1846, but houses were not erected until the 1850s/1860s.
