Early 19th century. 2-storey and attic, 3-bay traditional plain classical house. Random granite rubble finely finished to margins. Base course; projecting cills; long and short dressings; strip quoins; eaves course.
N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical; architraved and consoled doorway, panelled timber door in pilastered surround, with letterbox fanlight, 3 stone steps so door; window to each flanking bay at ground floor; regular fenestration to 1st floor; 2 canted 3-light dormers to left and right of attic floor.
W ELEVATION: gabled; blank.
S ELEVATION: not seen 1999.
E ELEVATION: gabled, blank.
Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Graded grey slate roof with lead ridge. Stone skews. Coped ashlar stacks with circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIOR: not seen 1999.
BOUNDARY WALLS: low coped granite wall to N; high rubble wall to W with pointed coping, brick coping to E, square-plan granite terminating piers with pyramidal caps.
Woodbine Cottage is one of the few surviving traditional detached houses in this area, with most of the original detailing intact.
