Description

Boathouse/store; earlier/mid 19th century 2-storey rectangular building with centre segmental headed entrance in centre, west gable (giving onto pier across road) with centre window above. Harled rubble. Slit vents in north and south long elevations; crowsteps; slate roof.

Pier; simple rubble pier with slightly curved arm, and with small secondary slipway on south side.

Statement of Interest

Timber boathouse, also by pier not listed. Access by sea to Tongue House would have been of prime importance, there being little road access to the north coast before Telford's Parliamentary road of circa 1815. What is now the rear entrance to the house was probably formerly the main access.
