1805, additions and alterations by A and W Reid of Elgin, 1867. 2-storey, 3-bay manse with attic and raised basement, with 1-bay addition to E extending in rear wing to N by A and W Reid, 1867. Squared and coursed sandstone rubble with galleting, stugged ashlar dressings, stone mullions to bipartites.
S ELEVATION: stone steps with wrought-iron balustrade to doorway at principal floor, enlarged to tripartite with small-pane glazing to lights and fanlight. Inner door half-border-glazed, with margined strip fanlight. Later bipartites flanking, 3 windows at 1st floor. Bipartite to each floor of later wing to right.
W ELEVATION: window at 1st floor, small window to attic. Irregular fenestration at rear, 2 doorways to basement, piended dormer to attic. Sash and case windows with 12-pane glazing pattern; 8-pane to bipartites.
Grey slates, purple to later wing. Ashlar coped skews with moulded skewputts, coped stacks with decorative cans.
OUTBUILDINGS: 3 single storey, gabled outbuildings to W, forming courtyard, with piend-roofed store at centre.
GARDEN WALLS: ashlar-coped rubble.
The Old Manse is now an hotel, and the Herb Gardens a tourist attraction of the area, see INVENTORY. The Old Church of Marnoch is sited to the NE (listed separately).
