17th century, with later additions. 2-storey and attic farmhouse, of 4-irregular bays, probably incorporating earlier house. Harled, ashlar margins droved to front, chamfered reveals to sides and rear.
S ELEVATION: 4-panelled door to centre in roll-moulded surround. Windows enlarged in 19th century; 2 windows flanking to left at ground and 1st floor, 1 window to each floor to right. Piended, canted bay at ground to outer right. Piended, canted bay at ground to outer right.
Single storey kitchen wing to W, possibly incorporating earlier
house.
E ELEVATION: 2 windows at 1st floor, 2 small windows to attic.
N ELEVATION: wallhead stack to centre, window at each floor to left. Single storey service wing adjoining at right angles to right, with addition extending W forming small courtyard at rear. Sash and case windows, predominantly 12-pane glazing pattern. Grey slates to steeply pitched roof, ashlar coped skews with beak skewputts, possibly replacing crowsteps. Corniced and coped rendered stacks.
INTERIOR: some 18th century plasterwork cornices. Large room at 1st floor with coombed plasterwork ceiling.
STEADING: to W, mid 19th century. Cartshed and granary L-plan range, with dovecot, piend-roofed cattle courts to W.
WALLED GARDEN: 18th century; squared and pinned rubble with turf coping, approximately 70m x 25m, rounded corners to S. Octagonal, slated summerhouse to S wall. 18th century wrought-iron gates.
Formerly part of the Ogilvy-Morrison Estates, Culvie is now leased from the Church of Scotland (information supplied by tenant).
