Mid 19th century. Single storey and attic, rectangular- plan gabled cottage with L-plan stable block attached at rear forming U-plan unit. Painted harl with ashlar margins and dressings (also painted). Quoin strips; raised cills. Projecting eaves; exposed rafters.
E ELEVATION: 3-bay near-symmetrical cottage block with gable wall of stable recessed to outer right. Architraved door at centre, stone steps. 2-leaf panelled door with plate glass fanlight. Canted bay at ground to right; splayed base small window in gablehead. Narrower gabled bay to left, bipartite at ground, round-headed window in gablehead. Recessed gable to outer right, window at ground left, window off-centre to right in gablehead.
W ELEVATION: 3 asymmetrical bays of main cottage with single storey block to outer right and attached to L-plan stable and coach house to outer left. Projecting window to outer left, door with 2-pane fanlight in penultimate bay from left; door and window to outer right. Large, modern slate-hung dormers.
10-lying-pane sash and case windows; 12-pane for canted window. Grey slate roof. Rendered, corniced ridge stacks with octagonal cans.
COACH HOUSE AND STABLES: entrance to stable court and rear of cottage through painted sandstone piers at S, gable of single storey block to right and taller gable of stable to left.
S ELEVATION: 3 symmetrical bays, attached at right to cottage. Segmental-headed coach arch with gabled hoist breaking eaves; flanking windows.
E ELEVATION: 4, boarded, 2-leaf coach doors, 2 to right segmental headed.
Woodstone cottage is shown on the 1st edition map as a rectangular-plan cottage with rear, long rectangular-plan stables. By the later edition map the stables have been joined to the house by the N wing. The cottage and stables serviced Woodstone House. Woodstone House has been converted to flats and is now called Woodstone Court.
