Description

Earlier 17th century lectern dovecot, echoed in 18th century by mirrored partner. Cream sandstone rubble. Currently in poor condition. Original dovecot to E, formerly with 500 nesting boxes; crowstepped sides and ashlar coping to taller S wall, roofless and lacking low wall and nesting boxes. Later partner more ruinous. Pantiled pitch roof strung between dovecots, as cartshed with timber column.

Statement of Interest

The path between the dovecots is thought to have been the original (pedestrian) entrance to Fountainhall, which lies to N. The steading

to S is listed separately.
