Description

Mid to later 19th century. Single storey, 3 bay cottage
with gable end to street. Harled. Central door, 2 flanking
windows, 1 window in gable end, 8-pane glazing. corniced
end stcaks, slate roof.

Statement of Interest

Balfour Village makes a B Group.

Col. Balfour advocated the improvement of the island

of Shapinsay in the mid 19th century. All houses, cottages

and steadings were erected to plans approved by Col.

Balfour.
