Built probably second half of 18th century. 2-storey 3-bay
farmhouse and detached barn at south east, beyond circa 1830
steading (latter not included in listing). All rubble-built
with ashlar dressings; slate roofs. House: painted, and with
boulder base; 3 unequal bays, gabled porch added to inner bay
probably second half 19th century. Sash windows with
small-paned glazing, 8-pane at ground, 12-pane above. Low
north west wing; full-height rear (north east) wing with
corrugatged iron porch in re-entrant angle. Straight skews;
corniced end stacks. Barn: (now a tractor shed) rectangular
plan; (?enlarged) barn door on long north west wall with
modern doors and lintel; doorway alongside. Slit ventilators
(3 tiers in gables). Straight skews, fragments of milling
machinery survive inside. Evidence of a horsemill having at
one time adjoined at south east.
House and barn pre-date general agricultural improvements in
the area.
Main part of steading (possibly by Walter Newall) too altered
to merit listing.
