Description

Dated 1816. Tall circular monument, reducing in diameter and

set back over plinth and ground floor. White granite rubble. South-facing door (leading to internal wheel stair) in

ground, hood-moulded red ashlar plaque in stage above, and

continuous string over; otherwise, small rectangular window

openings with splayed reveals at each of 4 levels facing 3

directions. Original corbelled parapet above ground and above

wallhead gone, corbels only remain at top.

Statement of Interest

Erected "to record the valour of.....British, Belgian and

Prussian soldiers who....gained the victory of Waterloo".

Foundation stone laid 6.10.1815.
