Late 18th century E-facing single storey 3-bay cottage on
ground sloping down towards S, below road; low steading block
to E (also mainly 18th century) comprising 2 wings set at
obtuse angle and abutting SE angle of cottage. All
rubble-built with ashlar dressings, cottage painted, with
contrasting margins; slated roofs, swept at steading over
roof ventilators.
COTTAGE: central (modern) door; sash windows with 4-pane
glazing corniced end stacks.
STEADING: tall barn abuts house and has inserted large barn
door (near cottage) dated 1827, flanking slit ventilators,
door and loft window at E, near angle; one tall bay with
blocked cart opening returned round angle into eastmost wing;
remainder of steading single storey, 2 doors with lintels
dated 1754 and 1818.
Dated lintels also bear initials of members of the Armstrong
family.
