Description

Late 18th century, 2-storey, 3-bay piend-roofed house, built
against bank, recessed early 19th century single storey wing
to NW at upper level of bank and built to main eaves level.
Rubble-built with ashlar dressings, house with painted
margins; slate roofs.
HOUSE: central panelled door to S with blind window above
(margins unpainted); sash windows in flanking bays with
4-pane glazing pattern. Square 1st floor windows. Corniced
end stacks on raised and ramped plinths; door on E flank with
trelliced porch.
ADDITION: clasps NW angle, 2-bay S elevation with canted
window left at head of slope, basement door right; roof
piended at E; end and axial stacks, paired massive diamond
flues. N elevation had some timber architraves, and wallhead
gable.
Plain square gatepiers; decorated wrought-iron gates.

Statement of Interest

Said to have been built as a dower house for Springkell.
