Dated 1902. Roadbridge, 2 segmental arches over River Esk.
Snecked, bull-faced red ashlar and voussoirs (inner face
of parapets stugged); brick soffits; pointed cutwater
either side, band course below parapet, latter opended out
at N end.
Datestone also bears date 1836, presumably the date of an earlier bridge on the site (also known as "Suspension Bridge").
A suspension bridge is thought to have been constructed here in about 1810, but a search of SRO. GD 224 is necessary to confirm.
Change of Category B to C(S) 12.7.88.
