18th century and later, fire damaged and restored. Unusual large 2- and 3-storey, L-plan, gabled and piended mill, partly converted to dwellings, sited to E of Mill of Newe House at S edge of Newe policies, with integral kiln incorporating vent with ostrich vane. Harled with small openings.
FURTHER DESCRIPTION: S (road) elevation with window high up in narrow gable at right, 2 horizontal louvered openings abutting eaves at left. W elevation with stepped roof, Aberdeenshire kiln vent to lower section at left.
Multi-pane glazing pattern in replacement windows. Some good small early grey slates. Ashlar-coped skews.
Good early corn mill with prominent Aberdeenshire kiln vent comprising revolving ventilator with polygonal slate base. Newe Mill is unusually large for this part of Aberdeenshire. Now (2006) in use as a fish hatchery for the Don District Salmon Fishery Board, the internal wheel and other workings had been removed prior to 1976. The mill lade would have been fed from the Water of Deochry.
