Originally: plain vernacular rubble-block with shaped gables
having low wings forming U-plan, early 18th cent. Large
2-storey and basement block added on E. 1827, Robert Brown
(of Edinburgh) Architect: 3-window frontages of droved
ashlar, centre bay on E. projects, pedimented, G-doric porch,
steps flanked by c.i. eagles on squat doric columns. Screen
walls with circular baronial towers added to wings at
junction of old and new houses c. 1840. Circular central hall
with dome and other interior features of interest.
Plans signed Robert Brown Edinburgh, March 1821 at house.
