Dated 1762. 2-storey, symmetrical 3-bay house with advanced
central gabled bay. Harled with polished ashlar margins. To
rear, later 19th century 2-storey, 3-bay wing projects, also
harled with ashlar dressings. Further recent 2-storey, 2-bay
flat roofed, harled wing at W gable of original house. Original
house with centre entrance; open pedimented doorpiece with
inscription, marriage stone and lugged, keystoned and moulded architraves; 6-panelled door. Centre window above and occulus
in gable; 12-pane glazing to margined windows; simple eaves
cornice; re-cut crowsteps; margined and re-coped end stacks;
slate roof.
Later 19th century wing to rear with pair 1st floor windows
rising through wallhead under finialled gablets; decorative
finial at N gable apex.
Interior; little original work survives except some simple
moulded ceiling cornices in ground floor front rooms of
earliest dwelling. Modern decoration and casing probably
masks scale and plat staircase.
Inscription in pediment reads; "1762 Built by Jas. Grant and
Majy. Fraser of Shewglie." Further marriage stone inscribed;
17 IG MF 62.
