Description

Mill; late 18th century, early 19th century, probably
incorporating earlier fabric and on earlier site. Small
rectangular mill, harl pointed rubble with roughly tooled
dressings. Rear of building abuts slope affording entrance to
loft.
Breast shot wheel at SW gable fed by lade chute; square kiln
extends from NE gable; corrugated iron roof, slated to kiln.
Some machinery survives.
Mill Cottage; mid 19th century single storey, 3-bay cottage
with 3-bay byre range extending at west gable. All white-washed
rubble. Centre door to dwelling masked by gabled porch; 4-pane
glazing; end stacks; slate roof to dwelling, corrugated iron
to byre.

Statement of Interest

Modern cast-iron datestone with name of mill and 1545 mounted

on rear wall of mill.
