Description

Late 18th century. Rooflesss girnal or grainstone. Long,
2-storey range, rubble-built with roughly squared dressings.
SW elevation with central entrance additional door at left
and enlarged entrance at right. 2 windows in outer bays,
small ventilating slits to inner. 7 near-square openings 1st
floor. Forestair on SW gable. This gable also contains
flue and has apex stack.

Statement of Interest

Girnals on this scale were used by estates to store Rents

(ie payment in kind) before shipping to Southern markets.
