18th century. Large double lectern dovecot. Rubble red,
Bourhouse sandstone, formerly harled. 32' x 16' in plan. String
course.
S ELEVATION: 2 segmentally arched doorways with small openings
above. Crowstepped division at centre of grey slated roof,
broken horizontally at mid-point with row of 34 flight holes.
Pointed arched openings above string courses to E and W
crowstepped elevations. Blank rear.
INTERIOR: dividing wall 3' thick; lower part given ceiling at
8', formerly used as stable.
Currently 946 nests, originally 1402.
One of the largest dovecots in East Lothian. Probably built by
owners of former house at Bower House. Similar to that at
Spott, listed separately.
