Description

Circa 1930. Single storey, symmetrical model dairy building.
Rubble with ashlar dressings.
ENTRANCE ELEVATION: piended porch advanced at centre, with
tripartite doorway and quasi-columns at the angles, on
quasi-bases below cill level, with windows on return sides;
flanking bays blank, with band course and outer pilasters.
REAR ELEVATION: piended porch advanced at centre, with
doorway on right return and small window at front; flanking
windows, with pilasters to outer angles.
END ELEVATIONS: canted; recessed ashlar panels holding small
windows above base course, with quasi-columns at angles.
Small-pane glazing pattern to windows. Pantiled, piended
roofs with semi-circular ridge tiles. Centre stack.
INTERIOR: 2 rooms, both glazed tiled from floor to ceiling;
slate shelving removed.

Statement of Interest

Architects possibly Orphoot, Whiting and Bryce who designed

a similarly sturdy pantiled composition at Templecroft,

Gullane, about this date.
