1760. Sir James Clerk. Georgian 4 arms around a yard. 2-
storeys. Snecked rubble. Entrance front of ashlar with
round-arched recesses, portico, Gibbsian steeple.
DOOCOT: On N. side of yard. Reproduction of Arthur's O'on.
Octagonal. Pedimented ashlar front with round arch.
Crowned by high dome. Impressive circular interior with
potence and 804 net holes. Turnpike stair.
Seat of Clerks of Penicuik. Converted into mansion c.1900
after Penicuik House was burnt down. Arthur's O'on or Oven
(Templun Terminal) an ancient building near Falkirk was
destroyed by Bruce of Stenhouse (Stirlingshire) in 1743
