Originally circa 1798, 2-storey and attic, 3-bay house with
centre door, later extended by 2 bays at north-east gable with
similar fenestration; circa 1830, large 2-storey projecting
bowed bay (with drawing and dining rooms) incorporating former
centre entrance. All harled with contrasting painted ashlar
margins. Tripartites with narrow side lights in ground and 1st
floor of bowed bay; 2 piended dormers with original 6-pane
glazing. 12-pane glazing elsewhere; end stacks; slate roof;
stone ridge. Modern glazed porch in re-entrant. Wing to rear.
Interior: coved ceiling to 1st floor drawing room.
Coped rubble garden walls.
Formerly Meikle Tarrel. In 1798 Meikle Tarrel was taken on a
19-year lease by a farmer who had been living in East Lothian.
At his own expense he built a dwelling house, farm offices
and threshing mill and enclosed a garden.
