Description

MacFarlane Foundry dated 1887. Painted cast-iron fountain; cherub on plinth in

centre of basin holds fish from which water pours, borne on

fluted pedestal. Surmounted by domed canopy supported by 4

fluted decorative columns; apex lamp bracket. The whole stands

on square base.

Statement of Interest

Inscriptions in English and Gaelic commemorates the introduction

of "gravitation water" into Portmahomack. Identical to fountains advertised in MacFarlane's of Glasgow catalogue.
