Earlier 19th century, single storey, wide 2-bay cottage;
rubble, tooled ashlar dressings, all whitewashed. Off-centre
door masked by modern porch with side entrance; single small pointed-headed window to right of porch, and 2 similar
windows in south gable, all with lattice pane glazing (wooden astragals); renewed end stacks; piended slate roof. Simple
drystone wall encloses garden plot.
Unusual fenestration. Cottage might once have served as gate
lodge to Hempriggs House.
