Alexander Ross, 1871-72. Rectangular plan with square tower
in centre of north gable rising 1 stage above ridge; 4-bay
flanks. Coursed rubble tooled ashlar dressings.
Tower; round-headed entrance each with of rusticated and
battered base with paired lancets in wall face between and
hoodmoulded quatrefoils above. Paired louvred round-headed
windows in upper stage within panel with corbelled detailing.
Shallow pyramidal roof with projecting eaves raised over
blind occuli in each wallhead; cast-iron weather vane.
Angle pilasters and corbelled wallhead detailing to north
gable with 2 round-headed windows flanking tower and linked
to 4 similar windows in flanks by continuous cill-band.
Lattice glazing; slate roof.
Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Former United
Presbyterian Church; subsequently United Free Church.
Built on site of earlier church serving Secession
congregation.
