Harbour; early 19th century, small flagstone harbour with
stilling basin. Some flagstones set vertically; wide quays
flank both basins, with some modern cement render surfacing.
Boathouse; early-mid 19th century long rectangular rubble
boathouse sited on east side of harbour; rubble with
roughly tooled rubble dressings. Wide entrance in west
gable (facing harbour) with curved wooden lintel and
double leaf plank doors with long blacksmith iron hinges.
Small loft window above. Simple square apex finials;
Caithness slate roof.
Harbour built by James Traill of Castle hill for his
flagstone industry. Quays are wide for storage and handling
of flagstones Castleton Quarry Windmill is scheduled
Monument.
