Description

Circa 1829. Square burial mausoleum; all tooled and polished
ashlar. Single storey, with centre pointed-headed recessed
entrance in south elevation; hoodmould and nookshafts to
doorway, which is closed by cast-iron gate with intersecting
tracery and decorated with quatrefoil motifs.
Narrow blind, hoodmoulded and pointed headed windows in
remaining elevations; facetted angle pilasters rising through
continuous moulded eaves cornice to crenellated wallhead;
shallow pyramidal stone slab roof.
Marble plaque in raised ashlar panel over entrance.

Statement of Interest

Mausoleum stands in simple dry-stone dyked burial ground

which is not included in listing, the site of the former

Killintag Church. Plaque commemorates Miss Christina Stewart

owner of Glenmorvern Estate 1824-29, died in London, 1829

and records erection of mausoleum in her memory by her friend

Isabella Stewart of Glenleven.
