Formerly dated 1561. Burned 1665 and restored, deserted 1885
and now ruinous. Z-plan (earliest, or second earliest, known)
3-storey rubble-built with dormer heads, ground floor
unvaulted, 28' x 18' with 17' diameter circular towers
(polygonal internally) with corbelled stair turrets in angles
that at S.E. with 'G' (for Gordon) in lowest corbel. Later
S.E. wing shown in Giles and C. & D. Arch. now totally
demolished. Loophole with boar's head top and 1561 datestone
now at Knockospock House: moat completely drained.
Undergoing major restoration. Begun 1984 Loophole with boar's head top and 1561 datestone now returned to Terpersie (1986) "Fine carved chimneypiece installed in great Hall, 1989.
Reminiscent of the work at Huntly Castle, it is said to have come from Lesmore Castle, Rhynie, although latterly was built into a cottage". De-scheduled 23 December 1996.
