Later 19th century. 2-storey and attic, 3-bay house, at end of terrace, on acute corner site. E elevation painted render, and channelled at ground floor. S elevation harled; N elevation painted brick. Painted dressings to E elevation: base course; quoin strips at 1st floor; raised, slightly tabbed, margins at 1st floor; eaves course, incorporating lintels.
E (MAIN STREET) ELEVATION: door to right and window to left in centre bay; panelled door and fanlight. Window at centre at 1st floor. Bipartite window in outer bays to both floors. Cornice between floors, terminated by mannered segmentally-pedimented consoles. Gabled dormer windows, with decorative iron finials, above outer bays.
S (CHURCH STREET) ELEVATION: window to left and right at 1st floor.
N ELEVATION: adjoined to lower building, No 56 Main Street (see separate listing).
Plate glass glazing in sash and case windows to E elevation; modern glazing to S elevation and to dormer windows. Red sandstone coped skews. Gablehead stacks. Small grey slates. Octagonal cans.
