Description

Circa 1800 with later additions. Quadrangular steading with imposing E entrance range and farmhouse (listed separately) behind. Squared and snecked red sandstone with ashlar dressings.

E RANGE: symmetrical; 2-storey entrance bay at centre with segmental-arched pend, tripartite window with stone mullions above blocked, dovecot to attic with row of flight holes breaking pyramidal roof, decorative weather vane. Lower cartshed and granary ranges flanking; 3 cart arches with wooden double doors at ground, small windows above part louvred and glazed. Adjoining slightly higher return of blank SE elevation to left. To right; single storey cottage with enlarged openings and modern attic dormer. Grey slates to entrance bay and to left, red pantiles to right and to cottage, straight skews, ashlar stacks. N RANGE: farmhouse listed separately. Entrance to courtyard thorugh pendd. Cattle court to SW; ashlar gatepiers with pyramidal caps and ashlar coped rubble retaining wall, piend roofed shelter with cast iron columns, grey slates. Low rubble wall to road with crenellated coping and drum gatepiers.

Recently restored (1989). Part of Wemyss and March Estates. B-group with Harelaw Farmhouse.
