Mid-19th century, 2-storey 3-bay symmetrical house. Painted rubble, architraved or margined windows. N gable harled. Steps with simple cast-iron balusters to Roman Doric granite pilastered doorpiece, double-leaf doors. Recessed bay over door with tall single light window. Flanking door, tripartite windows with granite monolith mullions. Single light 1st floor windows. Porch to S gable. All windows sash and case with plate glass glazing. To rear, 2-storey, painted rubble and harled wing and lower 2-storey wing and cat-slide addition. Piended slate roofs, tall end coped granite stacks.
Last used as office to quarry, currently vacant (1992) former manse. Birthplace of Dr Thomas Brown, 1778. Much original fabric demolished.
