Earlier 18th century. 2-storey square-plan summerhouse. Sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings. Chamfered reveals to openings; eaves course. Centred window at each floor to SW. Forestair with some brick shoring and coped walls to 1st floor boarded door offset to right on NW elevation; vestigial wallhead stack centred. 2 relieving arches above a square opening, now with replacement boarded, 2-leaf garage doors, centred at ground to NE elevation; iron grille to window off set to right at 1st floor above. (Grilles removed from other windows). Lean-to addition at ground on SE face; window centred above.
Variety of glazing patterns including replacement 8- and 2- pane timber sash and case windows; fixed plate glass window to SE. Pyramidal grey slate roof, swept at eaves, with diamond pattern to SW; flat roof to lean-to addition; lead remnant of gutter to NW elevation.
INTERIOR: roof construction exposed; chimney-piece with bolection moulded frieze remains.
Polton House, to which the summerhouse was allied was built circa 1730 and is now demolished. The interior was once lined with trompe-l'oeil panels which were removed by Lord Perth in 1983 and installed in another garden building at Stobhall, Perthshire.
