Earlier/mid 19th century, but more than one building phase. Long, straight-fronted quay built along east side of small harbour. Built in courses of vertically-set rubble slabs, single horizontal course at west below top course. Slates formerly transported from north by tramway.
Built for slate-quarrying industry. May be near contemporary
with nearby Ellenabeich and Easdale quays, ie circa 1826.
