Sir Robert Smirke, dated 1825. Large castellated mansion, droved ashlar 2-storey with 3-storey towers, asymmetrical composition; south frontage 160', east frontage 233' with porte cochere; large terrace with angle bastions.
Interior; fine gothic E. corridor, public rooms survive
largely unaltered with good plasterwork, very fine
library. Staircase and 1st floor corridor replaced in
Scots-renaissance manner. Deas c.1912.
