Dated 1881. Victorian. 2-storeys, basement and attic.
Rendered (mock ashlar); gabled slate roof; piended gablets
and dormers. Moulded ashlar chimneys; 2 bay windows. Square
3-storey tower; balustraded parapet; porch at base;
round-headed doorway; dwarf pillars at jambs; approached by
balustraded steps. Plaque on E. wall with Campbell arms and
motto and inscribed "J.C./M.C. 1881". 1-storey and basement
piended addition at W., connected to row of low offices at
rear.
Formerly the seat of Campbells of Jura and of Craignish.
Built to replace mansion known also as Ardfin. (extended by
William Burn c. 1835). Magnificent situation over-looking
Sound of Islay.
