Description

Circa 1925. 2-storey, 2-bay, rectangular-plan, eccentric cottage design with crowstepped gables and fan-shaped windows. Harled with stone cills.

SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: crowstepped porch with part-glazed timber door and plate glass fanlight slightly to left of centre, windows to outer left at 1st floor and to each floor at right.

NE ELEVATION: full-height projecting chimneybreast to centre flanked by fan-shaped windows at 1st floor.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: boarded timber door to centre ground, windows in flanking bays and regular fenestration to 1st floor.

SW ELEVATION: full height projecting chimneybreast.

16-, 20- and 12-pane with decoratively astragalled glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows; fan windows with decorative astragals. Grey slates. Coped harled stacks.

Built for John Drummond. Megginch Castle estate includes Chapel, Gothic Arch, Ice House, Kingdom Farmhouse, North Lodges, Stables (with Dovecot), Walled Gardens, Wardheads and West Lodge all listed separately.
