Description

Probably 19th century. Tall pink rubble sandstone walls enclosing Paxton House estate (mutual with Tweedhill House in part); predominantly squared sandstone coping (rubble in part). Hooped iron railings surmounting curved corner to NW. Various sandstone gatepiers including pyramidal-capped, square-plan piers to N (gate missing); platformed, pyramidal caps to stop-chamfered, square-plan piers flanking entrance to The Dower House (gate missing); pyramidal caps to nearby square-plan piers with 2-leaf iron gate. Swept walls flanking opening to NE; further openings. Coped walls enclosing site to River Tweed with four-centred arched, keystoned opening spanning sluice to S.
