2-storey small country house altered and enlarged second
half of 19th century; former south gable and (original)
adjoining walls raised, with corbelled parapet, to form
"tower house" & symmetrical 3-bay east front added to
existing L-plan house; latter probably built (largely, at
least) 1835 (datestone). Long, single storey rear (west)
wing. Whin rubble with contrasting red ashlar dressings. East
elevation: 3 piended and finialed bays, narrow inner bay
advanced, with door in corniced projection; hood-moulded
ground-floor bipartites; small-paned sash windows; eaves
course; ashlar stacks, some with diamond flues. North
elevation roughly symmetrical with addition either side of
inner gable; altered) rear wing has wall head gable to south
and modern verandah alongside; axial stacks with diamond
flues. All roofs slated.
L-plan house shown on 1st ed OS (1856).
