Style of Walter Newall, circa 1840. Single storey small
country villa with classical details and lying-pane glazing.
Roughly rectangular-plan (complex roof-plan) with plain
L-plan offices to N. Stugged ashlar, some polished dressings
(offices rubble-built), sash windows in full-height shallow
projecting bays with aprons and timber mullions. S and E
elevations both essentially 3 bays with central bay advanced
and pedimented: E elevation with plain central doorpiece (deeply-recessed panelled and glazed door); 2 further wide
bays recessed to right: to S, a canted central window.
Stone box cornice doubles as gutter; axial stacks (paired
diamond flues); piended roofs, covered with graded slates
and with concealed cupola over hall. Narrow service court
recessed on N flank now roofed over. Offices built around
walled and cobbled courtyard and include kennels and
converted cottage.
INTERIOR: unusual plan with corridors in a U-plan
arrangement; moulded cornices; panelled doors in reeded
architraves.
